Our Sponsors

Sunday River Ski Resort is the founding sponsor of Maine Handicapped Skiing thanks to the commitment of Leslie B. Otten, former CEO of American Skiing Company and former owner of Sunday River. Since MHS’s inception in 1982, Sunday River has donated thousands of lift tickets to our participants and volunteers. In addition the resort hosts our Annual Ski-A-Thon at the Grand Summit Hotel and a Diana Golden Level 1 Race.

Sugarloaf is the home of Maine Handicapped Skiing’s weekend winter program featuring alpine skiing and snowboarding. Sugarloaf donates a space for our program participants and volunteers and a room to store our equipment, in addition to lift tickets for volunteers and participants.

Sunday River Inn and Cross Country Ski Center is home to our Nordic skiing and snowshoeing program. Owners Steve and Peggy Wight donated the space and ski hut that houses the program equipment, volunteers and participants. The Ski Center donates trail passes for our volunteers and participants and provides Nordic and snowshoe equipment for the program. The Center also hosts the Ski-A-Thon in March for those Ski-A-Thon’ers wanting to Nordic ski or snowshoe.

Pineland Farms is MHS’s second site for our Nordic and cross country ski program. Located in New Gloucester, Pineland Farms donates the trail passes for our participants and volunteers.

Bath Ironworks is one the nation’s largest shipbuilding companies and Maine’s biggest employer of veterans. BIW is sponsoring our Veterans/No Boundaries program for two years, 2007/2008, helping to underwrite the costs of programming, lodging & meals and transportation for veterans and active duty personnel with physical disabilities interested in participating in adaptive sports.
