"Virtual Skier" fundrasing in 2011
In 2010 we introduced the concept of a "virtual skier." It was an additional avenue to raise funds for MHS for people who can't be members of a team.
What does "virtual skier" mean? A "virtual skier" raises funds online as an individual for Maine Handicapped Skiing through Firstgiving.com. He/she will not be attending the Ski-A-Thon at Sunday River in person.
Imagine being warm, dry and comfy cozy at home raising money for MHS through Firstgiving.com. A "virtual skier" creates his/her own fundraising page on Firstgiving.com and then contacts friends, co-workers and family members around the world to ask for pledges!
It is a great way to raise money and support Maine Handicapped Skiing if you or a friend can't be on a team this year!
(On-line pledges generated by "virtual skiers" cannot be transferred to any registered team member or team.)
When you go to our homepage at Firstgiving.com/mhs and click "Get Started" you will have two choices:
- You are a team member and will be skiing or riding at the Ski-A-Thon on March 27th. OR
- You are going to be a "virtual skier" and raise $$ online (you will not be attending the Ski-A-Thon in person)
As a "virtual skier"
- Raise $200 and get an event t-shirt.
- Raise $400 and receive a custom-made Ski-A-Thon hat and event t-shirt!
- Questions on "virtual skiers:" please call Joanne Mercier at 207-824-2440 or email her at jmercier@skimhs.org.
Volunteer at the Ski-A-Thon
It takes a whole bunch of people to make the Ski-A-Thon work. We could use your help as a volunteer:
- Register Ski-A-Thon teams (the night before and day of the event)
- Help put together lunches
- Help out at the Fun Race or Obstacle Course
- Be a dinner seater
- And much more….
And don’t forget to give us a pledge too!
